See, that's what I was thinking originally, guess its not the consensus though. Both tanks look great IMO though.

I agree with the longer tank for more turf argument but I also stop and think about later on down the line. If you hit an LFS and see a ray or eel or whatever else that you decide you want, you have the tank space to accomodate something different down the line. that 300 will suit a lot more fish if/when you get bored with the fronts.
The 300 has 18sqft of territory, the 265 has 14sqft of territory. The 3" of height distance is negligible when your talking bout territory imo.
That is a valid point since I guess territories aren't strictly left or right of the front center. I would also agree height makes no difference or at least very little.
Yeah, I had to drop back past the petstore I'll be getting it from and found out not only are they the same price, but the 300 comes with starfire front and side viewing windows. My biggest concern now is if I go with the short factory stand or build a taller one.
Yeah, they have one at the store and its like 4.5'-5' tall maybe with the stand and they stand is 1,100. Where the tank is going I will mostly be standing near it when viewing or looking at it from another room seated. I'll be going with a wet/dry trickle and sump. Likely just convert my current 75.
Yes I agree! At the end of this year, my plans include beginning construction on a 10'x4'x30" in the basement. This tank is for the upstairs.
