300g Acrylic Problem??????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
man whats the thinkness and whats the deminsions.

I got one used off CL and I could not get it level, I tried and tried but never got it right. My base and stand would be 100% level but once the tank was on top the level was off. I called in two different people and the second one said its the tank that is flexed. I filled it up and its been up an runnning for monthes now!!

i myself would sell that tank and invest in a high quality 300, for the money its worth you wouldnt wanna be out fish, a tank, and money if it breaks

My 450g acrylic is 30" high. It does not bow at all, ya get what you pay for.

3/4" and 8 X 3 X 2.5

It is still holding water and doing fine. I will drain and clean it up in the morning.

I didn't pay for it. It was in a business that went belly up. They sold everything and took what they could. While we were moving the furniture out I chatted them up and asked about the tank. They said they could not move it and if I could get it out it was mine. Mine is also 30" high.

With those dimensions it's 450g not 300g. Free is a great price, but how much are you willing to pay for peace of mind?

i say since it was free, sell the thing and invest in a nice secure one :)

8x3x2.5 is actually more like 450 gallons! :WHOA:

I'm surprised it bows that much if it is 3/4" thick - my 300 is 3/4" thick and 8x2x2.5, it doesn't bow noticeably. I recently saw an ad on MFK for a tank that was 1/2" acrylic and 8x3x3, so I am thinking you should be fine.

By the way, that is a heck of a score!
