I have just built a new stand for my 300g tank I know the stand may not be perfectly level on the top but its damn close to level. However when I placed my tank onto it today the tank rocked corner to corner (when I push on the left side the left side lifts up at the front and the right side goes down at the back and the other way when I push on the right side).

Is this a common problem with empty acrylic tanks of this size of do I have a big problem? The tank has been sat in my garage while I built the stand.

Maybe your garage floor caused it to warp. Try putting it on the stand with an inch (or so) of water for a while and see if that helps to straighten it out. I have never had that problem before, but maybe it has something to do with the acrylic drying out.

I have a 450 and it rocks when empty. It's a used tank and stand combo so I just filled it to see what happened. There was a few pops and creeks but all is well.

Sounds dangerous, have you drained the tank since? If you have did it still rock.

The tank has been sat on two work boxes placed one at each end for a couple of weeks.

I thought one of the benefits of acrylic is it is less 'rigid' than glass... meaning it can flex a little without being damaged?

If it is the stand that is out would the tank be ok or would the tank be damaged of it is not leveled. We have just put a string line across the front of the tank and is appears the stand has actually been warped in the middle from sitting in a cold garage. Would this make the tank un-safe to use? I don't want to use the tank if it is not going to be right.

Are you using Styrofoam under the tank? that will level out the tank. And how bad is the warp in the stand?

string and then foam for a fix.. how big is the gap?

My stand was not perfectly level as well but my tank size is 60x24x24. It was slightly not level due to the pressed board we used. I filled it up with 1 inch of water and tank didn't rock at all. I filled it up all the way. After research I believe there is not a perfect stand 100% flat. There are so many variables that can make a stand surface not perfectly flat. Is warp in the middle of the stand or on on side? With bigger tank you have to be more precise because of the water pressure.
