300G Acrylic tank rocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We really dont know if its the tank of the stand. Something has twisted either the tank or stand and makes a gap about 1/4 of a inch.

We have three things we are thinking about doing.

1. Putting styrofoam under all the tank.
2. Filling it with some water and see how it goes.
3. Packing the tank where it does not touch the stand.

as staed before fill it with a couple of inches of water and let it sit for a while then check it again

We filled the tank with a bit of water and with about 2 inches of water in it stopped rocking. We left it for a little while and then filled it up all the way and everything is fine.

Thanks everyone for your help I will post pictures of it when I have finished.

What did you do to fix the problem?

Nothing really, we leveled the stand as best we could The tank bust be a little twisted but it leveled its self out with 2 inches of water in it.

Did you check if your garage floor is leveled? Your tank stand may be leveled but your floor may not be. If that's the case, why not use some shims to help it get leveled? My tank is in the garage and the floor is not leveled. I used some shims to level the tank and stand and is working fine.

Sounds dangerous, have you drained the tank since? If you have did it still rock.

The tank has been sat on two work boxes placed one at each end for a couple of weeks.

Acrylic is ridiculously strong plus its flexible. Also the larger the stand and tank the more "play" there is. I think it's normal after 8 feet to have a little play. No big deal. A good tip is to never shim the tank, if shimming is required then shim the stand only, between the stand and the ground.

Thanks... Lucky enough the tank leveled itself out and all is good.
