Yeah hmmmmmm, as I remember back to when I pick up the 175gal I have now. It took yeah 4 big guys to load this bad boy into a van. The glass in 5/8 thick plus the dam tank was drilled and I didn't wanna remove to fitting on the bottom......Actually we couldn't remove them, so there was these 3~3 inch fitting or bulkheads sticking out the bottom of the tank. So we always needed to carry the tank upside down. and actually carrying it was the easy part when we went to place it back on the 44 inch high stand almost everyone of us almost threw a nut. I would say this tank weighs easily 300lbs. Now that it's a leaker I'm thinking I mite put geckoes in it or else I'll have to hit it with a hammer. :irked:

Sounds like this is going to be a lot harder than i thought!

from their website Perfecto's 265g weighs 400 pounds.

so a 300g should weigh about 450 pounds, glasswise there really isn't much of a difference and the glass thickness should be about the same...so...450 pounds is probably a close estimate given the Perfecto tank weight..

you definitely need at least 4 strong people to move a 450 pound tank..and even then, if you can get 5 or 6 its even safer and easier..

A 1/3inch 180 gallon is 300LBS and a heavy 300 because of the size. just something to go off of. Also another good point brought up is glass thickness.

WOW i ment 3/4th inch.

if a 180 is 3/4" it has to weigh more than 300 pounds.

Aqueon's 180 is 1/2" and it weighs 282 according to their site.

a 3/4" 180 would probably weigh 500 pounds.

3/4" is crazy thick and heavy. I don't think they make any 180's today using that thick of glass unless its custom done.

in fact, pretty much everything from 150 right up to 300 seems to be made of 1/2" thick glass these days. it must be plenty strong..

WOW WOW i have been at it since 5 this morning with work and school it is 1/2 inch. Thanks

1/2" glass weight right about 6.75lbs per sq/ft

Lets assume a 300 measurements are 8ft x 2.5ft x 2ft

1 pane - 8x2.5=20sq/ft * 6.75 = 135lbs
2 panes - 8x2=16sq/ft = 2(16)*6.75 = 216lbs
2 panes - 2x2.5=5sq/ft = 2(5) * 6.75 = 67.5lb

135+216+67.5=418.5lbs (excluding any euro bracing)

its a bit of a lift and as long as you are not going that far 2 men (of my size) can do it..

however not many are 6'1" 280lbs so yer better off with 4
