  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea, love the tank...honestly, Im only posting here so I can easily refer back to this thread and read through it if I ever get the inclination to build myself a monster

Thankyou for the feed back! It's taken awhile to do, but have only spent a few hours every couple of weeks, and nothing for long periods. But it gets done eventually. Not much left!!!!!!!

rawlo, congrats dude, thats 1 killer DIY tank....great posting!!! how much to get 1 sent down to melb?? hehe

RAWLO, VERY nice. VERY, VERY nice.
Is your tank a double layer of 3/4" plywood?
Do you have any bracing at the top of the tank?
How much did it bow after filling?
Can you provide the dimensions of the tank?
Thanks,

Joe

Hi joe, there's 1 x 3/4 ply on the back, 1 x 3/4 and 1 x 1/2 ply on the sides to create rebate for side windows, base and top frame are 1 x 3/4 ply, 4" x 2" pine front, fillets in corners. Glass etc as mentioned in early days. I haven't measured any bowing, by eye its next to nothing. now i need to watch out for those white ants!!!!!

Nice tank. I've been toying with the idea of a plywood tank for about 10 years. This thread inspires me. White ants, meaning termites? Or another dangerous Aussie insect?

:nilly:that is one awesome tank good job man i'm gonna have to build one like it and i love the port holes and the foam back
