300G PLY TANK BUILD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
g-day kramer, the dimensions are 2200 x 800 x 800. i live on the gold coast, and i saw your pic in pg, nice tank.

I think laminated glass and or tempered glass would be the best for the port holes, but acrylic for the main viewing side would be the best option. However, if you're gonna have diggers and or course gravel, then glass would be better as acrylic scratches easy.

Thanks but that picture is old my tank looks way better now:headbang2

For a tank that size I would say 12mm Float glass would be fine.

TA, I'm going to start looking for the glass soon, what the heck is float glass? A'm I ok to use standard glass? Spent time this weekend making cabnet. Time and materials just dissapear.

Float glass is just standard glass;)

so can I be very confident about 12mm float glass? I've seen a thread about busted tank, 12mm etc and how do I work out wet/dry sump pump capacity? gph?

wow very nice tank might i ask how much have u spent just for the materials to build it?

nothing yet, making list, most are offcuts fom work, returned favour. but 17 mm ply from mister ply & wood=$38au x 6 sheets approx & 4x2 pine ? but not much $$, fibreglass were offcuts, but now gotta spend on glass, epoxy, pumps, sumps, heaters, lights etc. cabnet carcase done, needs to be dressed up a bit though.
