I was on craigslist and i saw this 300g tank with stand for $300, it's never been used and does not include filters and lights and it may need to be re-sealed. I'm thinking should I get this or not? It would use all of my birthday money that I was just going to get a 55g with and use the rest for a new cd player in my car. So guys think I should blow all my cash on this fish tank or just get my 55g and a new car cd player?

If it is really a 300g (people on CL are notorious for not knowing what they are talking about), you have to get it at that price. You can find a 55g all day long for $25.

Is this a real question?

Yeah it's a 300g there was a pic included, well my problem is i do need to upgrade my piranhas and I would want to use the 300g for something like an aro, or something else bigger than my piranhas. I think that the 300g would be a little much for 3 red bellies.

Get the 300G for now and have the red bellies in it. They get a different tank down the road for the red bellies and do something else with the 300g

Where I live, 55g normally go for $300 or so (sadly)

:duh: why didn't I think of that?! Thanks man :D

The problem is that you said it would take all your money to get it, but it sounds like it needs some serious work and a lot of extras that you won't have the budget for (pumps, plumbing, sump, heaters, lights, etc.).

I know this is sacrilege (who on MFK WOULDN'T want a 300??!!), but what about picking it up, resealing it and cleaning it up, then selling it back on craigslist for $1000? Then you could pick up a 180 with all the gear and still have all the money you'd need to get it working like you want AND you new CD player?
