.308/7.62 ar build?

If not familiar with the AR platform, stick with 5.56 for now. It ALOT cheaper and in all honesty, youre not going to any more use out of a 7.62x51 than a 5.56.
 
Sadly I agree with jd7. Not a fan of 223 but ars dont like 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 is more expensive in general. A 223 ar is cheapish and cheapish parts. Much prefer an ak though.

I'm starting to lean this way since I don't hunt and the only ranges I know of in my area only go up to 100yds. I can probably pick up the snubnose I've been eyeing with the money I save.

100 yards??? Save some money and get a 10/22. Won't even need a scope.

if buying a complete gun I'll probably go with my original choice of the FNAR, reading all the custom builds gave me the bug plus since everything is cooler when you've had a hand in its making.
 
just buy and ak if you want to look like a terrorist then. stuff the 308 inside the chamber and fire away. its 7.62 so it should work.
