i have a mottled sculpin in my 10 gallon tank with guppies..hes about 2 inches and has recently found out how to shove a hole male guppy in to his gut, witch i did not think possible, but no dead body and a very full Sculpin was all the proof i needed,
i wouldn't recommend them unless you dont have anything that you think might fit in to his mouth, or anything smaller then it seems, hes only about 2 inches now can get to 6''...
he ate the guppy even after a big meal of bloodworms the day before
..love sculpins but maybe not for a community tank , unless you don't mind restocking what it eats

Yep thats what I hear...even the small sculpin can eat fish almost their size, Many crawdads are opportunistic and in a closed enviroment they will eat your fish while they are resting at night I would go with ghost shrimp or gammarus, if your wanting to keep minnows and darters (very pretty but not real aggressive).

I would say the creek, it all depends on what your preference is. I am a cold water freak myself. The one thing i would say is the pond suggestions that you made in your first post will not really be able to fit in a 30. They may start out fine but will eventually grow to big for the tank.

Oh by the way that picture that warmouth quote, very nice pic.
Thats Kaosu's Sculpin, I am not sure what kind......but its the best looking Sculpin Ive ever seen. I went with creek as long as its warmwater because I didnt know if he has a cool enough area (like a basement) or a chiller for a coolwater creek setup, (here in Mo its gets real hot in the summer).

that would be a Mottled sculpin ^_^

get darters and minnows...skip the sculpin and the crayfish....sculpin will mostly hide all day....if they are happy. darters are like puppy dogs...and minnows will eat out your hand. if you put to filters on the 30 gallon and leave like 4" off the top and let the water splash you wont need any powerheads.

a few minnows, a sculpin or 1 sunfish would be happy in a 30 gallon. But a bullhead is a definate no. I have one in a 55 that i have had for over a year and he has grown for 3" to now 8". they grow fairly fast.
