That wasnt fun dragging it into the garage fish room bymyself. Glad I didnt make it 8' It wouldnt have fit. The fish in the 160 will be going into the 314. Turtles will be going from outside kiddie pool to the 160. Got me a oil space heater to keep it heated during winter.

We shall see what I get done tmw. Id LOVE to be able to use it this weekend....

Sorry fell asleep today instead of working on it. tmw I "should" have the frp down and corners sealed.

Got the frp down, was reading online about people using tin snips to cut it.

After about 2' down no matter HOW hard i tried, every angle method

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So I manned up

Like cutting butter

Got some adhesive sprayed 1 coat on the plywood, 1 coat on the frp. Let sit few minutes and attached. I glued the 4 sides not the bottom, that took 1 can.

All ready to be sealed.

Wasnt sure how the sealant would react to the 3m, so I will be cleaning the edges real good tmw and hopefully with time putting it down then letting it cure. Ill be Using this.

It is 100% fish safe when cured, koi people use it all the time. Iv used it on the 160gal plant container to seal the pvc bulk heads to 6mil plastic wrap and on a cracked 10gal. Works like a charm. Also no joke smells like chocolate.

is the FRP some kind of plastic?

sillicone and plastic are not always good bed fellows. certain plastice emit oil or are gas permeable.

are you putting in awindow or is it a pond?

steve I was gonna put in a window but I am running out of time. The turtles are still outside in the kiddie pool and its getting a little cold for that. So I need to move the fish into this tank asap. Shame cause I got the glass.

Got it sealed today. 3hrs later the skin is "very" tacky. I felt like charlie in the chocolate factory using 4tubes in a 8x8 room.

The room is heated with a oil heater so outside temp isnt going to affect the curing process. Its going to sit as is until atleast wednesday. I will double check all seams then its go time and in hopes for a sat/sun fish transfer. Thank god the fish move 16" from tank to tank ha.

So you have a full tank in the room where you're building this pond?

That should work to your benefit as most polyurethane caulks are moisture cure. But I've never used one that smelled like chocolate so I can't say for sure. I also think you'll get a much better bond to the FRP with the polyurethane caulk than with silicone.

If the FRP & caulk combination works I think you'll see a lot more people using it on plywood builds.
