315 Gallon Setup - TITAN AQUATIC!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey thanks for the help with the youtube vid! wanted to ask for a long time on how to post a youtube video on here but havent yet. lol

when water enters into the first chamber and into the pvc piping, bubbles are created because i cut slits into the pvc. instead of a full stream out the other end, water comes out a lot gentler. my setup is rather quiet actually. you can hear some water flowing noise but not too much for this size setup/sump. i wanted to make sure its silent enough because the tanks in my living room and i wanted to be able to enjoy my setup while watching tv. its because of the first chamber that acts as a silencer. got the idea from my old megaflow 4 sump. it uses the same idea. my down pipes in the overflow has 2 silencers as well that is rather quiet.

That first chamber w/ the pvc w/ slits in it is genius! Now i need to do something like that but i need to be able to slide my filter socks over it. Maybe just pieces that arent glued in...so i can detatch w/ each filter sock change.

Awesome setup once again! All it needs is one wc kelberi to make that a trio :)

wild caught kelberi huh lol. these are my first pbass. what do wild caughts look like? more vibrant?

my first chamber can be taken apart rather easily. its a thicket glass with 2 1.5 inch bulkheads that the pvc pipe that connects into. not glued permanently so it can be dismantled with ease. the glass top also comes off just incase i need to work on that chamber for any reason. the glass top is just sitting on the black trim.

wild kelberi can be a bit more colorful..just like any wild fish...its a crap shoot. A lot of the pictures of the 24k ceras kelberi are wc.

I added a piece of pvc to my sump inlet. Now it doesnt have such a long drop before it hits the media/water level. I didnt glue it in either so it makes changing out filter socks easier. Thanks for the idea. Only thing i would change about your sump would be the mats. Filter socks are so nice and efficient. Being able to throw em in the wash makes em way too affordable. Best $50 ive spent on aquarium supplies. Over a year old and going strong.

so the noise you here is it just moving water noise or do you hear the pumps? i will be building a simular tank but it will be in my bedroom so noise is a concern for me i think that if the tank is quiet enough to hold a conversation next to it it will be fine.

also how are the pumps working for you

i decided to go against filter socks because i was told they clog up very easy and need regular maintenance. i just use sponge to catch all the larger debris in the second chamber before water flows onto the bacteria house media. i rinse this every 2 weeks and it works great. same as my megaflow sump before. i just clean the tray portion every 2 weeks.

ill see if ill add in another cichla. as much as i love them, i rather have another stingray in my setup. cichlas produce too much waste lol. im happy with my current pair of kels but that will be it!

the noise is great. not a lot at all. everything is pretty quiet. im running an azoo back up airpump and its the loudest out of everything in the system. my water blaster water pumps are awesome. no noise from those. definitely worth the money i paid for the pumps!!!

Here is an update of the setup as of May 30, 2012. Everything running great and fish are happy!
