I did not use plywood at all on the front frame, didnt need it on my build. My front wall consists of a 2x4 frame with a 2x3 frame inside that. The viewing window sits inside the 2x4 frame on the 2x3 frame.
Here a picture from the outside, I'll have to see if I have a pic from the inside.

Here's the inside, you can see where the viewing window will sit.

I was not able to find a picture of the viewing window sealing process. I did find one after all was said and done but it doesnt really show you anything.
