35 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I, too, have a an empty 35g-Tall....I went to the lfs today with the thoughts of getting a Convict pair...But once stepping in the store, my attention went to plants and filtration....

Fish for a 35:
---3 fancy goldfish....Get the mid sized to larger ones....Oranda, Black Moor, Ryukin...My favorite, Lionheads....3-5 of these will make a "cute" setup...

---Male Convict and one or two females....Build the tank up with driftwood and rocks or leave it as a simple breeder with no gravel and just a broken turned pot....

how about brackish tank with a pair of F8 puffers, a trio of mollies(babies become food), some fancy guppies(more food) a knight goby(or a pair if you can get them) and some nertite snails(great algae crew) and get enough fine white reef sand for a decent sand bed and about 30lbs of dry base rock. if you want you can get some decent lighting and try growing some anubias, java fern and java moss for a planted tank(looks great) or even mix some fake driftwood in with the rock.

Yeah, brakish....2/3's, even only halfway filled with water might do....Build a sloping island and put some hermit crabs, or even a Pac Man frog on it....Fill the water with Archers....

I would do a german blue ram pair, rummy-nose tetras, cories. But I have soft water you would want to mke sure to not have hard water.

you're joking right? 1) hermit crabs would probably fall into the deep water and drown 2) a pac-man frog would be poisoned by the water and die, also they are very messy and would make keeping water quality in check a pain 3) archers get to be almost a foot long, doesn't sound like something that would do well in a 35g tank.

I had no idea archers get a foot long...I was more fantazing than being logical with the Pac-Man/Archer response...Forgive me...Keeping real, my regular response to this-almost-every-week ask question is a pair of Convicts....You know something, a breeding pair of Disus would be nice...

What about one big (not HUGE) fw puffer?

any suggestion on what puffer?

Figure 8 or there are a few species of pure freshies that get 4 inches. Maybe a red eye puffer?

Personally 35 gallons seems like a waste on just two convicts.

However a few silver arowanas, a few stingrays, and I recon we can squeeze in a red tail catfish. Only joking!

I recon an African butterfly fish and 6-8 congo tetra would make an amazing setup.
