Thanks for the link.

I currently have been feeding them basic turtle pellets, koi pellets, and sometimes crickets and millworms. Anything else anyone could recommend? Im going to do some research on their natural diet pretty soon.

What exactly do you mean by feeding them in a seperate location? Like one set area where they always eat? So its easier to eat? or so the food doesn't go all over the pond and some uneaten? Or should this be an area that is totally seperate of the pond and the food will not touch the pond water?

Thank you for your time.

here is my thought for basking area. bould it on legs so that the water underneath is still useable space, could be pvc frame w/ canvas. cheap n effecient

whats everyone's fav choice for making a splash tray? Ive used plastic lids, acrylic (dont have anymore to cut) hard plastic. No splash tray seems to be easy to make to custom fit a homemade wet dry

Seems like people really like using UV's on their pond to keep them clear. I have to small ones not in use and planning to add one to the setup. Do i have to run them 24/7? could i run them just time to time or one day a week or something like that? if not one knows im just going to test and trial. Figured id use a UV till i get enough bacteria and filtraion in the pond.

Great that you saved the turtles! I just saved one that was hit by a car that I found on the side of the road. My advice to you is to start building another pond because the koi will out grow that tub in no time. My koi grow 5-6 inches per year and your turtles will eat them even if the fish are bigger than they are. Good luck!

Water quality will vastly improve once the wet/dry is ripping. Try lexon, it drills really nice and can be cut pretty easy to boot.

If you haven't checked it out yet search turtleforum.com There is alot of good info.

I have found raw shrimp to be a good food for sliders when they are still young and needing protein. Not too messy, fairly cheap, and you don't need to worry about diseased feeders.

Depending on your weather and sun you may want to add a heat and UVB bulb over the tank as well. The screw type compact fluorescent UVBs are pretty cheap.

Finaly built a structure out of PVC and canvas in the middle of the pond last week. The edge has an area they can climb up, the middle has rocks for them to relax on and the far side holds the filter. I used a trash can as the bin, the lid as a splash tray and filter media, bio balls, and scrubbies as internal media. Also added a Small hang on UV because the pond started to develop algae pretty quick before i added the filter. Water is now crystal clear to the bottom. Turtles like to bask all day long but most of the smaller ones are still scared and jump in the water when they see you. Not bad for a temp setup. Now i just need a stronger pump.
