I was only joking about the Pima...it was a way to get some of the maintance costs back.

The pvc arangement I was talking about is a DIY solar water heater. The tank water runs through it..back and forth as many times as you can manage. (understand this WILL increase the load on your pumps and cause higher power bills but less so than an electric spa heater.) the waters heated during the day by direct radiation. It takes that much water a LONG time to heat up or cool off so theres an OUTSIDE chance this could work as long as you don't live in the frozen north.

i live in cali

OK then you have a shot at it working. Run the black PVC lengthwise and then turn it back on itself in a zig zag patern until you run out of roof space. (The longer the runs...the more efficiant the solar heater so fit as much pipe as you can afford.) This should be AFTER the filter in the return line and the end can be dumped directly into the tank. Have a ball valve and seprate return line after the filter in the off chance the water gets TOO warm. That way you can regulate the temperiture.

any pics im lost

if we get the tank were gonna get some gigas, allogator gar, aba aba knife fish, pacu, arowana, rtc, tsn, paroon shark, and koi. at least thats what i wanna get.

Those tank dimensions are not really ideal for keeping fish like arapaima. I would advise you and your brother to start with a much smaller tank before you dive into this one. Although the initial cost of the tank may not be much, the money you will be spending monthly to maintain it will be huge. The fish you named must eat a lot of food to thrive. Honestly after electric, water, feeding, supplies, etc. I don't think 500$ a month upkeep is a stretch by any means. It may even be considerably higher than that.

my brother just bought the filter so, im about 80% sure were getting it.

Uhh the pool filter I explained wouldn't work?

As said the arapaima, alligator gar, paroon, aba aba, etc will all outgrow that tank.. it's only 4ft wide so none of them will be able to turn around..
