Woke up yesterday with a rekindled desire to get a snubbie. Ideally I want a black s&w with internal hammer and chambered in .357. Here in the real world .357 is twice the cost of .38+p and s&w cannot keep up with the current demands. My dad has a ruger lcr which is exactly what I want at a much better price and I like shooting it, but I had my mind set on a s&w. I agree that .357 is better but how do you feel about .38+p? Are the any pieces other than the lcr or s&w that I should consider?

the only out the 3 ive ever fired is a .38 special but my best advice would be go with something you feel comfortable with. if it was me i would go with a gun a i know well and feel good shooting. back when my cousin first became a cop and i would go shooting with him i always brought his .22 rifle cause i felt comfortable with it and as time went by i started challenging myself till the point were i could hit a golf ball from over 200 yrs.

I've only shot the Ruger and like it, the s&w feels good in my hands and I'm confident I will handle it just fine. I tried looking at gun forums and got the feeling that everyone has the mindset that if a is better than b then b is garbage.

i would try the s&w out see how it handles a field test. try some rapid shoots at multiple targets , quick reloads things like that to get a feel off the gun first then make your choice from there.

If you like shooting a 357, then I bet you'd like the 357 Sig round. It's a bit pricey to shoot, but its energy rating and velocity are crazy. S&W makes one in an m&p model. Fun gun to shoot.

I see your Glock .45 and raise you a coonan .357 1911 inspired pistol. However neither option answers questions for someone looking for an affordable .38/.357 revolver. I prefer .357 for my snub noses. They are more versatile with a wide range of load options in .38 or .357 and in my opinion S&W is almost always a good way to go.
