no true gar can live in a tank that small

okay well are there any not true gars?

will a grass pickeral be able to out grow that tank then into a 55g for life

small needle nose gar for a while.... ONLY ONE,

but u might need to grab a 40-55 gal later on.

still not a true gar but cool to watch eat.

as stated above, no "true" gar will live for any extended period of time in a 35g tank, so this group (Lepisosteidae) should not even be considered--

dude just set up a nice community tank. if you get any monster fish you will just end up mistreating them. a 35 gallon is far to small for pretty much anything. you could grow out some Datnoids but thats about it.

I think that would be fine considering they only get about a foot anyway
:D

a pickerel would be cool. i was going to keep some of those before. i think i would even recomend a 75 for them though. if they get a foot you dont want to keep them in a foot wide tank.
