Finally cleared out my 36 gallon tank and I don't know what to stock in it. So far I have decided to add

1 gold head compressiceps (center piece fish)
1 julidochromis (either regani or ornatus)

Any help on what to stock it with is appreciated.

It would be tight in terms of territories, but might be doable since all 3 species max out at 4-5"....if you have an individual of each of the 3 species that is.
What are the tank dimensions?
If you had a big conk shell or something similar for the comp and 2 separate rocky areas for the juli & attenuatus to set up house it could potentially work. Basically 3 distinct territories. Attenuatus do like to dig as well...

I would do a pair of the comps OR a pair of the julidochromis and maybe a pair of brevis.

Im probably going to skip on the julidochromis due to my lfs having them to small. What else would you recommend?

It seems you want more of a 3 species display, than breeding pairs, from your original post, and that you wanna buy local. So, I guess a good question would be what other smaller tangs does your LFS have in stock? Princess brichardi are pretty, and reasonably common amongst LFS's, and so long as you got a single specimen, and had appropriately territories, would prob do ok with the other 2 🤷‍♂️

My LFS is primarily a African cichlid store they have a whole row dedicated to tanganyika cichlids. I'm going back Monday to actually purchase the fish and if they don't have anything that stays small I might just go julidochromis. Thanks for all the help!

Hello again sir, I picked up the Lepidiolamprologus attenuatus today and realized he is most likely going to dominate the entire tank. I want to have him as a centerpiece fish in the tank and I was wondering if some sort of schooling species of fish would work? If not I will probably just stick with the original tank stock.
