People call them "gauges" because you measure the size in gauges. Example: 12 gauge, 10 gauge up until you get to O and OO then it's just actual size. Also those aren't plugs...

But you don't call it "gauging". It's stretching, that is literally what you're doing. The gauge only refers to the size. Not the item. When people say nice gauges, they have no idea what they're talking about. And I know these are not, "plugs" they are "hoops" obviously.

I really can't defend something thats been around for thousands of years. I'm sure King Tut called it gauging when he hung out with his friends outside of a hot topic on saturday night.
