lol, actually using the logics she just used, you'd call them "stretches" or "stretchs" because gauges doesn't refer to the physical act of gauging either, just the size reference.

I know, but still when people say "nice gauges" it usually refers to the size of the plugs not the act of doing it.

awww come on guys, be nice to the pretty lady.

we just said the same exact thing, hence my point about saying nice stretches or nice stretchs because it refers to the SIZE not the act of doing

Whatever, I like them :). Not into that myself, but I have lots of tats and can appreciate personal taste. Oh, and they do not affect my job as a health care professional either :)

What mess? You started a thread, threads USUALLY end up as a discussion or debate. What did you expect this to turn out to be a thread to compliment on how awesome you are at having huge hoops? Guaranteed you won't get that here.

I could care less if people like them or hate them. I LOVE them and wanted to share that. Of course I realize most threads on here turn into some sort of debate. Some people have nothing better to do with their time. I one the other hand, have to to take care of my 2 year old, who happens to love me the way I am. BIG 'OL STRETCHED EARS AND ALL. So your opinions mean very little to me :)

If our opinions mean very little to you, why make the post to begin with?

I might have worded that wrong. But for people to talk down about us people are different in whatever way we are different, makes them close minded. We don't encourage people to run out and start doing it. I do care about peoples opinions, to an extent. I realize ear stretching isn't for everyone. Neither were tattoos. I worked in a hospital setting, tattoos and all. Did they assume I couldn't do my job because of it? No. I was giving my tattoo artist more clients when doctors wives wanted to get some new ink. So for people to say that it's ashame that I'll be stuck working in some shody place, is just plain ignorance.

So unfortunate there are still people that think like this. I can go into just about any store or business in any major city and find people in 'professional' positions covered in tattoos or piercings. I have 3 friends covered head to toe in tattoos that own their own businesses and gross over $250k annually each. To say getting tattoos/piercings will limit your choices in life is ignorant. There are tons of people in suits/ties with tattoos and piercings, you just may not see them exposed. And, most jobs/employers are not at all concerned with your looks, but how you well perform.

Your friends own their own business, GREAT for them. Seriously, great for them. I even mentioned that that is her best hope.

Also I am perfectly cool with tattoos and piercings but you said it perfectly, "you just may not see them exposed," and that is fine. I will have to disagree with you regarding looks. Any professional company is not going to hire some one with gauges, period. I've worked as a Business Analyst for a top Fortune 100 company that employs 30K plus people and does BILLIONS of dollars in business a year. There is NO WAY she would get hired even to sweep the floors at that company.

I have nothing personal against this look I love having the freedom to choose to do this if one wishes. I just am not naive enough to think that putting giant holes in your ear lobes will NEVER make anyone thing anything negative about you. I am sorry but its natural to judge some one initially by appearance and remember, first impressions are everything. If you say otherwise, youre in denial.

I am FAR from close minded, my mind is not so open that my brain has fallen out.
