I'm a little late to this party but decided that I need to include my two cents. I wish I would have known that my body modifications would keep me from getting a high paying corperate job before I became an engineer with one of the biggest avionics manufacturers in the world. I am just one of many heavily tattooed and pierced people that is employed here. If I am able to be this successful while having over a third of my body covered with ink and almost two dozen piercings(including 5/8" plugs) then imagine what I would have been able to accomplish if I was a conformist sheep who played the corperate game by the same rules as everyone else.

Great story. There are many exceptions to the statement that he made early in this thread. But they are exceptions.

There are going to be a ton of people that feel the need to jump into the thread and proclaim their success and individuality of how amazing their life has been. Greeaaaaaattttt, good for you. Does it make your life any more special than someone else who didn't feel compelled to do that? I could ask a magic 8, but the chances are slim. Your life, your choice. My life, my choice. I too have a corpOrate job, make a good living, and I'm able to provide for my family. And I did it all without putting holes in my ears, covering my body with ink, or piercing my face/body. AREN'T YOU ALL PROUD OF ME?

It seems to be an underlying assumption that being clean cut implies being a sheep, follower, etc (not just in this post, but in a few others). Something to think about: the intolerance for clean cut people in this thread should be equally offensive to the people who are inked and pierced.
 
Im not asking for people to change their opinions about anything. To each his or her own. Do what makes you happy. I choose to do what i do because I like it. I have 0 problem with people who are so called clean cut. If I have my hair down and long sleeves on, no one would be able to tell I have tattoos and stretched ears. I put those photos up to share something that I like. I'm glad everyone has their own views on it. I am what I am. Whether its ugly, weird, different, I don't live my life trying to make myself into something I'm not. I'm a good person, I have a beautiful daughter, amazing boyfriend, awesome friends. I don't need thousands of dollars to make me happy. Life would always be easier to an extent if we could all have well paying jobs. But at the end of the day I'm awesome just the way I am.
 
Hey, keep on doing what you're doing. What people say isn't important, it's about what YOU think. It's not quite my thing... and I am not a fan of guages... but it's up to you, not the d-bag who takes it upon him/herself to criticize you.
