36g Reef tank progression thread!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sad day...
Got killer out of the tank and threw him in a 14g biocube. I'm going to sell the cube and give him to a lfs probably...So now I have a 36g tank with no fish!
What to stock it with? I was thinking a pair of firefish, an orange spotted goby, and then something else (maybe a couple cleaner shrimps as some cool inverts...?)

in a 36 you could add a pair of ocel clowns to what you already want, or maybe go with a pygmy angel or some sort of dottyback

I almost bought a pair of clowns today...But decided I was rushing things.
I think first off I'm going to add the goby. That's something I definitely want.
The angel would be cool, but I have soft corals in the tank and don't want them getting nipped...

Nice Tank, I have a coral beauty and it hasn't touched any of my corals. I would add the angel last if you do get one because mine was fairly agressive for a little while when I added my clowns. Lawn Mower blennies are cool too IMO. They seem to be people watchers, atleast mine is anyway.

Hmmm. I'm trying to decide between a blenny or goby. Can't have both really...I would really like a sand sifting goby, but I'm not sure of any that can live in 36g. Anyone know of any?

And I'm not sure about the angel...I'm trying to get everything to go right haha. Every fish is different...So I don't think I want to risk it with my corals.

I've been thinking, and I might do 3 green chromis, an orange spotted goby, and then a cleaner shrimp or two.
Any opinions?
I also need a good clean up crew...I don't have one right now, and I really, really need one. Something to turn over the sand and clean the glass. I've got some hair algae as well. Any help with this?

Some snails would be good additions. I like cerith snails, they keep the glass really clean. Turbos are good for algae and nassarius snails help keep the sand bed turned and eat left over food.

Ok. So I didn't go with the chromis idea.
I added two pajama cardinals today. They're hiding in their own caves right now and I'm wondering if it was a good idea to add two, and then later add 4?
