375 gallon glass tank build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
where did you purchase the sand from? this custom setup is completely mind-blowing to me...I just went through the whole thread and am still amazed at the size of that aquarium. I just picked up a 125gallon tonight to setup adjacent to my 110 and think those will be the biggest aquariums I'll ever have...hopefully one day I may go bigger.

I was hoping you would say that. Leslies is only a few minutes away:) I stopped there the other day to check out their prices, exactly what you said $8-9/ 50lbs. I was hoping to see this pool filter sand in someones aquarium to see how exactly looks and it looks great...i'll be pickin some up this weekend. thanks for the info.

I have it in all of my tanks. Love it!

Feel free to drop by for an up close and personal view.

That tank looks amazing. I haven't had the chance to build a tank yet being in an apartment and all. I have a little DIY in me though I am a sucker for cheap and dirty when you see things like my sump and stand. You truly have given me something to aspire to though I will most likely be cheap and exercise the use of some reinforced concrete whenever my time comes.

Btw, I was doing my best not to skip comments but what was the build cost and how far off was it from your projected cost? Feel free to exclude the silicone mistakes and add back labor on the craftsmanship for the stand, canopy, and tank. I'd like to know what is ideal for an all glass work of art like this outside of the stores.

Good luck with the new born and thank you for posting the thread and the pics. I enjoyed it.

Badassissimo- I didn't really keep good records of costs as I went along, partly because I didn't really want to know, and more importantly, because I didn't want my wife to know. Off the top of my head, the tank and stand probably cost close to $1700 total. Filtration (Dart pump/sump/pvc pipe and fittings/overflow and returns) probably cost another $450. Decor and lights probably added another $500 or so. I did splurge on lights, and could have gotten away with lights significantly cheaper, though.

Hi MDStark!

Congratulations for your amazing work. I´m from Brazil and my English isn´t good but I decide do write this message cause I ´m thinking to do a small project baseaded on yours.
Here we used a different kind names for especifications like in USA you used gallons and here we used liters. I know the forum have a conversion table but my limitations in your language makes me confused.
Is it possible you say what kind of wood you used on cabinete with a detalaided dimensions of the parts in centimenters?
Thank´s a lot for your help.
For ADM of forum.... Sorry if I make anykind of mistake, it´s my second post!!!
