You might be better off ordering one of the Universal Rock backgrounds from DBN - I just finished installing my Kiama background this morning in my 265 - only took a few mins....the flexible material makes all the difference...

Yeah....I didn't realize that all of the backgrounds weren't made from that material when I ordered. It's ok though....I am very happy with the product and I'm sure it will look great once I get it installed.

Alright...quick update on how I solved this problem. The inside height of my tank is 23 5/8". The width of the opening on the top of the tank is 21 5/8". I simply cut 2" off of the bottom of the background with a table saw, horizontally. NO VERTICAL CUTS!!!! WOOHOO. I siliconed the 2" bottom piece back onto the rest of the background and siliconed the whole thing to the back of the tank. You can VERY SLIGHTLY see where the two pieces join, BUT I am using pool filter sand for my substrate and it covers the seam. In other words...it looks perfect and it is rock solid! I will post some pics in a couple days once I get the sand in and my plumbing complete. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I did see that thread and it's a really cool idea, but it wouldn't work for what I am doing with this tank. I am putting on a Fx5 because I need a ton of mechanical filtration. Thanks.

i would say the background filter is 10x times better, i hardly do water change anymore, my filter volume is around 100 liters, and the nitrat and ammonium level is 0...

I used a table saw to cut 2" horizontally across the bottom of my DBN BG so that it would fit nicely through the braces. Once both pieces were in place, I used silicone (an entire tube) to secure it to the back of the tank. For the most part the pieces matched up; however where it doesn't, the substrate covers it. It appears to be solid.
