I wanted to make a 3D background for my new 560 before i get it running.
I've seen on u tube and on internet sites that people r using that pink foam board.
Is that really safe for long term use?
Should i seal it some how? It is insulation.
Maybe with Dry-Lock?
What do you guys think?
Need help..... dying to get this tank done

I haven't made my own but I hear concrete and cement used when not sealed can change your water parameters over time.
I have used backgrounds made at Replications Unlimited for giant tanks. Its all rubber so its inert and its easy to fix in place with some Greatstuff canned foam.

Also, drylok tinted with cement dye is what I am using.

I used 2" blue board for mine and then painted it with dry lock then started painting it with dry lock tinted with acrylic paint worked great

Yeah. Looks great
But do u know anyone that has used it for a long period of time?
I know things like Styrofoam seem to be OK in water. But if it's submerged for a long period of time, the oils come out and could get your fish sick

Mine is been in for close to a year with no issues the dry lock completely seals it so there shouldn't be any leaching at all I put 2 or 3 coats on it prior to putting the color on

So u sealed the whole thing?
Front. Back. And bottom?
Then u just siliconed it in?
Is it a glass tank?
Mine's acrylic, I wonder if silicon would work

Sealed the whole thing then painted for color with the dry lock with acrylic paint mixed for color then siliconed it in should work fine , use plenty of silicone
