I was going to save and buy one already made, but mine would be over $600.
I think I would like to make one, but I don't want to risk my rays.
I think u convinced me thou. Just got to make sure it's sealed good and give it plenty of time to cure

Anyone on mfk buy from Designs by nature ? They seem to make really nice backgrounds, but I can't seem to get prices from them.
Just wondering if they're a reliable business

After reading a bunch of threads here my first attempt at it turned out pretty good. I used Drylok paint tinted with cement pigments. I painted it completely front and back to seal all the foam from exposure to the water. I then washed the whole finish with vinegar just to make sure there was no lime residue from the cement tints. I don't think there was any but it didn't hurt nothing to do it. I did this over a year ago

Yeah, you won't have any problems with the styrofoam/drylok method. It's tried and true. I had lots of fish in with mine with no issues at all. And it's a lot better than paying a ton of money since they're so cheap to make.

Just make sure you get the right drylok. There's a mildew resistant version out there, and it'll kill all your beneficial bacteria and crash your tank.

Thanks. I didn't know that.
Is there mildew resistance in the pink insulation foam?

What about design by nature?
Here of them?

I decided to go with universal rock.
Very nice looking product and didn't break the bank.
I should receive it in a couple days.
So I'll post some pics when I can
