3d backgrounds.

Ok has anyone tried to make a 3-d background. I tried the foam then fiberglass it. Didn't wrk. The resin melted the foam. So is there a trick that I missed or what. I do not want to use concrete. Any advice or suggestions?

Yes, the trick is to use epoxy resin and not polyester or vinyl ester resins. Polyester will react with polystyrene foam and melt it. Despite the extra cost, epoxy won't react and is also more waterproof over the long period (Polyester absorbs more water and can cause osmosis).

dont use expoxy just paint it and let it cure then clear coat it.

I used foam board, great stuff. Fiberglass resin. Then 2k urethane automotive primer. Automotive base coats and a dusting of urethane clear coat.
Built like a car because im a bodyman.

I've tried another. Same foam backing,great stuff, and and. If I'm not happy this time it a be a "tape on the back" back drop. Lol ready to get this monster tank up and going

i remember just getting some fiberglass and resin in the auto section of a hardware store, can't remember what type of resin it was. the whole thing was a bit of work but i was happy with the result when it was done though. ps pls don't tape up a crappy back ground sheet. your tank will tank you later
