3M Colorquartz question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use the T grade for my Geos, do not use the S grade as for fear of my filters and the "dirty look" mentioned previously. I pay $18 for a 50# bag here in Northern Illinois...

JMHO.....

Hey Terd...where did you pick it up in NC? Is it a statewide store or just local to Concord?

S-Grade works good for me. It looks great and I dont have any problems cleaning it. I prefer it over the Tahitian, playbox sand and pool filter sand.

It's only in Charlotte. Check out ntruddock.com.

Can someone compare the T grade to PFS? Is it about the same size, smaller, bigger???

And you guys with the colorquartz, do you get algae on top of the substrate? I have a problem with algae and my PFS.

Any suppliers near ATL??? I'm going to the auction March 15th and would like to pic some up since we don't have any suppliers in middle TN.

Algae will grow on any substrate ... rock, gravel, sand, 3m colorquartz. to answer the question though, no I dont have any algae growth using T or S grade.

So they don't mind the sharper shape? Do they suck it up and spit it out?
I would prefer T grade but am worried about my little geos and Cory cats not liking it.

Thanks Terd!

Its not as fine as PFS IMO. Here are some pics of S grade & T. The color piles are S-Grade:
