Any opinions on what's better, or more preferred? Will either of them irritate the rays bellies?

I'm looking for something nice, black, that won't stick to the rays or irritate them. I don't want to go bare-bottom, because I like the look of a natural looking tank better (read: sand + driftwood + plants).

I plan on having it lightly planted, maybe a couple of amazon swords and some floating hornwort or wisteria.

3m s is the small round type, t is bigger and not so round but theres a guy on here that uses it for his rays with good results.
TMS is sharp and I wouldn't suggest it for anything but out door ash trays.
imho

i use 3m t grade black with small rays, see some of my threads. I have had no issue.

i use s grade on another tank. in the tank in my avatar.

if you can get 3m go for it.... tahition IME is not consistant i got a bag that was smooth and a bag that was kind of sharp

Do the rays have any trouble burying themselves in the T grade, or is it not really that big? Is the T grade more like a gravel, or just large sand? Sorry to ask, the website didn't seem to really give me a good idea on that aspect of it.

they cannot completely bury them self but they are small 6"<, it doesn't stick to them.

look at my threads a few weeks ago, you can see how course it is.

I like the look a lot of the T-grade. What size tank and how many bags did it take to cover the bottom like you did? I haven't found a local supplier yet, so I might have to have it shipped (ugh, shipping 100+lbs of sand is gonna suck).

what size tank you got that you need a 100# of sand??? you only need a half inch on the bottom..maybe 3/4" too deep and you cause problems....

what problems...sorry for the derail but that comment just kinda dragged me in...

Tahition moon sand was to sharp for my rays. I took it out the next day because they rays stopped eatting and had pink undersides. I use the large sand mix by the same company. Good for any sized ray imo
