3M sand

I think the lighting makes it look a little orange. I should get some pics during the day with natural light, before the tank lights come on.

Tank bottom is not painted. It's actually the tan colored paper stuck to the acylic sheets from the manufacturer. The tank sits on a sheet of styrofoam insulation, that is light blue...

post some picts when you get it all in there... I do like it though!!!

i can not find a carrier for this. i under stand the manufacture is in Cleavland Ohio still can't find any.

where did you but the 3m from? locally or mailorder?
i have also heard of people using sandblasting sand from autobody shops. sand is also black and non abrasive for rays.

Put some of the sand in last night. What do you think? I think it looks good.

It's the 3M colored quartz, S grade in brown color.

thanks because i am going to be setting up a 480 for rays only and wanted to use this type of sand

I've done about half the tank. Biggest challenge has been trying to keep the light sand from mixing with the brown. Soon after I moved my 2 motoros onto the darker sand, their shading really changed.
