I was trying to collect some shiners yesterday on the Escawtaba river, I had pulled the boat up on a sand bar and I was checking a trap that I put out 2 days ago. when i got back in the boat I pushed back into the river and I had a little trouble getting the motor cranked, the boat drifted stern 1st into a large bush. I was yanking away at the pull rope then i felt something on my arm, it was this

I like to think of myself as a pretty tough guy, i went to a military college, played rugby for 3 years, and even had a short but very exciting armature boxing career. but i saw that spider on my arm and I let a scream out like a 8 year old girl, then commenced to have a spasm that if anyone had witnessed they would have sworn I had epilepsy. My thrashings threw the spider onto the motor and myself into the bottom of the boat. that pair of under-ware will never be the same.

just thought i would share this, does anyone know what type of spider it was?? evidently it could swim, I tried several times to kick it in the water and each time it came back to the boat.

just thought i would share

God, I HATE SPIDERS!
I would have freaked out as well.

... that pair of under-ware will never be the same...
HAHAHA, that is one crazy big spider. Actually, it does look like a diving spider.

Just seeing that picture gives me the willies too. I would just be glad that bugger did not bite you. That looks like it could leave a nice welt!

Jen:eek:

I don't know what it is, but I have seen one like it collecting on the lower Pascagoula River. It scared the hell outta me.
