They are not dyed, they are produced by one source though i heard something about its illegal to breed them and sell them..maybe someone else has more info.

Glo Fish are Trademarked by a company in PA. There are only 2 sources you can get them from because of this trademark. The Original Glo fish were crossed with Jelly Fish Genes to get the color. Now they Breed That color. Because of the trademark, you can not breed them for profit.
