Should I add salt daily? Or once a week? Every water change?

That's the problem, everyone wants to recommend salt but they never give a dosage:screwy:
Well this is what I do if I use salt. First do a water change(s) and get the nitrates under 10ppm and they need to be maintained, so never higher then 10ppm(looks as if you need to buy a test kit). Again if you were to maintain pristine water, salt may not even be needed.

I dose one tablespoon of aquarium salt to 5 gallons of tank water for the initial dose. Then I dose one tablespoon per 10 gallons of water during WCs, only dose the new water volume not the entire volume. Salt does not go away, it does not evaporate. Only way it is removed is during water changes. I treat for two weeks, then do a third week of fresh water only during WCs. Would keep the temp around 84-85* and make sure it is well aerated.

What sized tank are you raising these three in? Are they stressed? There are many that believe fit rot among other issues can be caused by stress.

They are currently in a 20 gallon tank. Within a few weeks I am transfering the inhabitants of the 55 gallon to my 150, so I can raise the three babies in the 55 gallon.

Last night I did a water change and here are the current parameters:

GH: 30
KH: 40
PH: 7.0
No2: 0.5
No3: 20
Temp: 84.4

Would you recommend I do another water change tonight to bring down the nitrates as much as possible? I usually do water changes Wednesdays and Sundays, but if I need to do another one sooner I will!

I also removed the dividers (they kept crashing into it which I think would add to their stress) In doing it that the flow in the tank is a bit stronger so I see no signs of aggression between them.

Again Brian thanks so much for your help!

I would definitely up the WCs. Nitrite(No2) should be at zero, anything above .25ppm is dangerous for fish. The nitrate(No3) at 20ppm would not be bad for a regular fish tank. Though for sick baby black aros it need be kept under 10ppm. Lots of WCs and get them into the 55g ASAP, the larger volume of water is much easier to keep stable.

Any updates?

Sorry Brian been offline for a bit. The baby blacks are doing better but not 100%. I haven't placed them in the 55 yet because I will be moving soon. The 150 will go first and will be set up in the new place so I can move the bigger guys into it and fix up the 55 for the black aros, And had to put the dividers back because even with the flow of a powerhead they were fighting which of course made one of their fins much worse!
