4 Day old Newborn Motoro's - Constipated???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
even though you are using aged water, perhaps adding prime would help.

hi ... currently only using a chlorine and ammonia neutralizer from Aqua One..... read up again on Prime and yes... I will be changing....thank you...
** emptied second holding tank and found the hose clamps on pump and hoses internally are rusted badly and are only 50% stainless and steel.... so their gone now....
lowered temperature this morning and I have been watching the two pups reactions.... nothing has changed....a little bit more active around feed time but only mouthing.... cheers

I hope they recover fully.

I ain't the smartest man in the world but I recon a 2 foot tank mighty small for 3 stingrays. Regardless of their size or age, or even the filtration for that matter. We're talking about a small volume of water. You're gonna need a lot of luck to keep that stable.

i think you're hitting the nail on the head. Top it off it's currently running on sponge filters. I like sponge filters, but sounds like they can't keep up with the ammonia.

Ok this needs to be said. Those sponge filters don't have a chance to process ammonia efficiently enough, or quickly enough to keep that water anywhere near stable. That tank is too small, both with footprint (inhabitable space) and water volume. You need a large volume of water to dilute the waste they are constantly producing, without a large volume to dilute it, it builds up too quickly. Do 50% changes daily and probably still won't keep up with that small tank. Upgrade or they may die.

hi all..... thanks for all your opinions... its great that you give reasons why as well.... it helps everyone....
Currently these three are in a 3x18x18 tank with the existing two sponge filters and a 400l/ph canister filter... I was waiting for the new canister filter to seed.....before moving out of the 2 footer....
Two water changes a day am 20% and pm 50% always after feeding....
Two out of the three are doing well and the third is only mouthing food so wont be long...
Keep all the advice up.... its always appreicated....
