4 frontosa

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea i just bought a 240 from a buddy of mine but i have to build a stand its a bad ass tank

125 or 180 hhmmmmm..... 180.

They are both 6 footers and will allow plenty of space. The 180 will allow for a few other Tangs.

Your bow front should be good for about one year if you buy 1 inch juvies. Once the fish get to be 4-5 inches they will start to fight eachother and the bigger tank will make a HUGE difference. Most people keep a colony larger than 4 fish (8 or more) is about avg. so you can see why a six foot tank is what most people are told. I had six burundi in a six foot tank and recently got a 7 foot 265, the fish love it and so do I. I would go bigger the first chance you get, your fish will be so much more relaxed (plus they will grow faster)

How slow do Frontosa grow? Are they as slow as Dats?

i dont have any dats to compare. I bought 1 inch juvies in oct last year and they are approx 5 inches now. They grow slower than most . If i had to describe it i would say they grow slow/medium on a scale of slow, medium or fast growth. If you put a 1 inch oscar in with a 1 inch front the oscar would out grow it in a few months, not so much it could eat it but noticiable. Later on though when the oscar has grown as much as he will the front will keep growing. Up to 14 to 16 is fairly common for monster old fronts, especially the alphas. Younger adult fronts should get 5-6 inches the first year then slow steady growth after that. 9-13 inch alphas are common after several years of growth. They take patience (thats why i also keep some haps and peacocks LOL)

They also do best by themselves with just a clean up fish of some kind etc..breeding fish should be alone.
