Yes, those are java moss.

A quick and easy way to secure them on is CABLE TIE......:)

quick question tyson... are those java moss on the driftwood.. and what did you use to tie them up?:D

I've used a stapler to staple the java moss and java fern to my driftwood pieces. I just had to be sure what material the staples was so that I wouldn't introduce any harmful substances to my tank.

Took them an hour to set up the lighting, chiller, CO2, FIlter, & PH meter + +.

Great looking tank, tyson.

Just one question: Why do you need a chiller for a neon tank?

i am assuming the reason is the same as here in taiwan. its not for the neons but for the plants as the summer temps keep well lit tanks and tanks with lots of equipment at a temp too high for plants to flourish. you add the chiller drop the temp to optimum temp for plants in summer and a heater in winter to keep the temp constant all year.

Thats right.......get the smallest of them all.

By far its 1 of the BEST inventions (CABLE TIE:headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 )

Some plants are fertilized with iron and I know cases where steel wool has been inserted under the sand/gravel to boost up the plant growth.

Unfortunately, rust (Fe III) is the wrong oxidation state for plant use (Fe II). Reductions (i.e. Fe III --> II) generally do not take place in aquariums. I have to assume that the steel wool just sat in the tank rusting without actually helping out plants... if the plants grew, I'd call it placebo effect.
