Do you ever plan on upgrading. I would say no if you don’t because the blood parrot alone can get fairly big and and aggressive. On average I would say they atleast get 5-8 inches some reaching 10-12.
Just curious, what size are both fish at the moment and how do they get along. You could try adding some bottom dwellers like maybe a single Pictus catfish or something like that or even some dithers. Once you start to trying to push your limits with more cichlids is when you run into problems. (Disclaimer for scaleless catfish such as pictus: aquarium salt kills them so I would cycle out any aquarium salt you used in the tank recently with water changes and don’t any more in obviously).
I have a very heavily filtered 40 breeder with a blood parrot and a peaceful o.b. peacock (female) and i was wondering if there would be any other fish I could stock my tank with,
thx- Matt
If I was to remove my o.b what would my options beHard to recommend anything, as your tank would be considered fully stocked by most here, myself included. If you do want to add anything, I would go for non-cichlids, since your two seem to not be killing each other currently, and better not to mess with the good thing you have going. Swordtails would probably not be eaten, and won't cause any problems, though I would only get one male (and some females) if you do go that route, because the males can be very hard on each other especially in small tanks. If you add much more, I would expect to have to do very large WC's per week, as even a single fully grown blood parrot can be quite messy, and the tank is a little bit undersized imo.
Limited. Not much different at all. What would be the point of that if the thing you got going is already peaceful that isn’t always easy with cichlids especially in such a small tank. The bp is still going to outgrow that sized tank eventually. I wouldn’t risk it. As said you could add a smaller bottom feeder that doesn’t carry a big bio load or some dither like fish if anything at all.If I was to remove my o.b what would my options be
