It's been a long time since I've been here. I started in the hobby in 2015ish and got much help here. Sadly I had to get out of the hobby in 2016 but as now, I'm back (on a much smaller scale)! Finally have my 40 breeder set up and cycled and have basic stock. Currently have 5 Bueno Aires tetras, 3 giant danios and 2 thorichthys meeki. What number of meeki would you feel comfortable adding to a 40 breeder? originally I would have liked to go with a different smaller thorichthys species but while starting up a new tank, it didn't seem like a wish idea to spend more given my more limited funds. Just for my curiosity what are the dimensions of a 40G breeder? Its a term you guys in the states use a lot but not here so im wondering how it differs in size from what we call a 40G?

That’s pretty much the measurements of what we call a standard 3foot tank here. We never use the name 40G breeder.

I believe 2 meeki are about all you can do in that tank, even two may out grow it over time.
I was at an aquarists house in Chicago that had one somewhere between 10 and 12", in a 450 gal tank.
Of course he was on one of those almost 100% per day water change systems.
