40 Gal HOBs?

Hello everyone, been a minute since I’ve posted on here. I’m still running my 125 Gal with 2 FX6s. But I am considering getting another tank. I’m planning on going with a 40Gal.. but I don’t know what HOB filter to run?. I’m planning on stocking with a blue eyed lemon bristle nose pleco , 2-4 upside down catfish, 10 neon tetras(maybe more if possible) , maybe some kuhli loaches ?, and some types of dwarf gouramis. My 2 options is Aquaclear AC110 or Seachem Tidal 110. What are y’all’s opinions?

I have a Aquaclear 50 on a 40 gallon breeder. Unless you're fish like high flow current a Aquaclear 110 may be to strong. They do sell a part online to attach to the Aquaclear filters to divert flow. I have a cut water bottle on the Aquaclear 50 to slow flow.

This was my 40b, it had two AC50's on it. That way if one died for some reason I still had some filtration till I could fix the other.

At one point there was probably 50+ platies and 50+ HRP'S in there and still no measurable nitrates. I had the sponge it came with and the rest of the space filled with bio-rings.

I have an AC70 on my 40B. Creates a decent amount of flow. I agree that a 110 would be very strong flow, and that even a single 50 would definitely be adequate 🤙🏼

Wow! What did you end up doing with them?🤣
 
For me it's easy to get any parts you may need for it in the future. Also it's know for longevity. There are members here that have a decade plus run time on their Aquaclears. I myself had them run for three years plus no issues. Ended up having to.sell the tanks and they are still running on the tanks I sold, now six years plus. Just clean the sponge weekly, rinse the bio-rings takes less than 5 minutes.
