I have a 40 gallon breeder and a fluval FX5! I DONT want to buy a bigger tank! now without making fun....I was wondering....CAN IT BE DONE? or will the current just blow the fish so much that they stick to the glass? lol

I dont know what I want to put in this tank either I know this is probably the wrong section but stocking ideas would be cool too!

It's possible. If you do a DIY spray bar, it should help cut the current.

DIY SPRAY BAR seems like it would make sense! and yes over kill is what i thought i just really want to use these 2 together lol the flow can be turned i guess the best thing to do is give it a try! lol

One of the great things about an FX5 is you van reduce the flow without damage to the motor, so it absolutely can be done.

And come on, an FX5 really doesn't have that much current output. I have a 1400gph powerhead, now THAT is some current. And I have it on a 90 gallon, WITH an FX5 on full blast.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! That was the answer I was hoping for!!!! :) MUCH APPRECIATED!

Im going to try it out! I have this filter packed with filter media and am going to turn it down a little and see how it goes...any ideas for some cool fish that could be housed in a 40 gallon breeder for there entire lives?

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to spend a ton on a filter instead of upgrading the tank?

I already have the filter havent even ran it yet. I was planning on running it on my 125 gallon had a terrible accident moving it today and busted the glass. I baught the tank off a local buy and sell web site used therefore no receipts or warrantys or anything.

I have a nice 40 gallon breeder with everything except a filter...I havent even tryed out the FX5 but love the look and reviews of it. I am happy now to know it can be done and will be done! :)
