id skip the cryptoheros, had a 40 breeder witha pair honduran red points and all they did was attack the glass. they were the dumbest fish i have ever owned. get a thoricthys species. id say maculpinnis or aureum.40 breeders are a great tank for breeding. regarding texas cichlids i had breed them in a 29 gallon, but they breed at 4 inches and generally got a long in a small tank.
