40 gallon stocking

Just cleared out a 40B and now have an empty tank. This tank will be going in my living room and I wanted either one very personable fish or a very exciting/colorful tank.

These are a few of my ideas

1 female jackdempsey

1 flowerhorn
------------------------
10 exodon tetras
-----------------------
breeding pair of angels
-------------------------
African mubuna
-------------------------
african shellies

Out of these what do yall think would fit the tank the best

The exodons, shellies, and angels could work. The mbuna have a chance, but it would need to be a species tank of a less aggressive species lime labs, rusties, or saulosi.

Shell dwellers or exodons imo, definitely nice for a species tank.

My vote is for shell dwellers, they live such fascinating lives and you get to observe them go about their day.

I agree shelldwellers are fun and would be a good fit for the tank size.
