Thats right kiddo's. Tired of cleaning filter socks and messy mechanical filter sponges in your sump ?
Want 40 micron filtration, full automated - self cleaning filter that will never clog and flushes the waste out a drain automatically ?

I give you the KC-10 rotary drum filter. Small enough to fit under a 24" wide aquarium too.

dirty water comes into the inside of the drum. When the mesh clogs the water levels get out of balance tripping a sensor that starts spinning the drum and spraying high press water on the outside of the drum. This washes the dirt into a catch tray mounted inside the drum and under the spray nozzles, which then runs out and down the drain.

It's all gravity driven like a sump with built in overflow bypasses in case anything does clog

Cost $2,500 :WHOA:

Ill stick with my filter socks. Im almost getting 2 weeks out of them now since I got the taller ones

It's made for koi ponds strictly speaking. An outdoor bare bottom aquarium which is what a good koi pond is, has a LOT of solid debris to handle. This thing will make an outdoor pond as clear as an indoor aquarium. Got it's big brother going on my koi pond for sure and debating on incorporating this small one into my indoor system.

The real advantage of these system is that they are constantly cleaning themselves. When your filter socks stay dirty for 2 weeks the waste in them has time to start breaking down. You might as well have left it sitting on the bottom of the tank still for all the good the sock is doing at that point. With the rotary drum the waste is washed away as soon as it collects.

looks quite nice apart for the sound factor that thing would drive me nuts lol.

Keep in mind that is just test rig in that video. Looked like everything is sitting on plywood on some saw horses with nothing secured in place. I think a lot of that pump noise was from it just vibrating on a loose piece of wood.

I hear ya but I really think that the gunk in the filter socks does not break down that much. If it really broke down we would find that the filter socks would never fill up all the way. The other thing for me is the price. If I really wanted a filter that did away with socks I would buy a bead filter and try that. Even though im not 100% sold on them yet. Thanks for sharing the information looks really neat. If you have one up and running lets see. Show the pond system and what you have going. Video as well would be cool to see. If they only made a cheap model it would be neat.

Personally it looks very impressive could be the difference between a profesional and a novice fishkeeper Hobbiest or pro!!!

This is remarkably cool. This is something I've been thinking about for many many years, but obviously not in this configuration. I've always wondered how an active mechanical filter (one that removes solids from the system would work vs a passive or in place mechanical filter.

So cool.

That is very cool!! And you're right about the waste being removed from the system frequently vs being left in socks/canisters/foam etc for weeks to break down and increase nitrates. I think that system would do wonders for the water quality on a heavily stocked set up, not just clarity but nitrates too.

ps. how is the 300g build coming on???
