400 gallon stingray pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks everyone and thank you Don. We use a 1000 gallon pond filter & pump and a 250 watt heater (I encased it in pvc that I drilled holes all thru) that keeps it about 82 degrees. We have a steralizer on it as well and we put in a small pump that sends water seperately to the "waterfall" made out of pvc to help pump oxygen into the filter end of the pond. We bought the timbers and liner from someone who never finished it, he had it together and filled it with water just long enough to make sure it would hold water, but never did any filtration or put any fish in it. We had new plexiglass cut to put on the top and use bamboo to hold it slightly higher than the pond walls for ventilation. The plexiglass fogs up if it lays flat on the pond. We'll take some more pics over the weekend and post them. Some more of all the fish and some showing the filtration system.

Oh, forgot to answer one part. Yes, our hope is that they will breed. We currently have 2 males and 2 females. The one male has huge claspers and the 2 females are big and healthy. Our one male is still pretty small. They are about a year old, maybe a little more. All eat like horses. Hopefully nature will take it's course. :)
