400 gallon update

forgot to mention.... i got the Dorado at about 7 inches, and the tigers were slightly larger than he at first, so he has been growing faster, but not by that much... hopefully he remains a gentle giant when he hits 18 plus inches... i've heard the same, that they get more aggressive at larger sizes, but so far mine has calmed as he's grown, hopefully that continues!

My problem is the dorado is 3" larger than the tiger and has already torn up tarpon his own size. I just can't trust him
 
i agree man, its scary.... they are relentless and if he decides he doesnt like the ATF.... bad very bad .... my VATF used to fight back and they would circle eachother so fast like a tornado, but the Dorado would win out.... my GATF's just ran from him.... maybe the fish just have to submit to the Dorado, then maybe? who knows, either way i consider myself lucky, but who knows, a year down the road everything could change

If the fish submits it will die. It took my large oscar to put my foot long dorado's head in its mouth for it to learn it wasnt king of the tank. That and a little rough love from my Jack Dempsey. A dorado will kill whatever it doesnt fear. It is fine in my tank because it was put in its place. The same dorado I have (used to be a buddy of mines) killed my friends P.Bass 3" bigger than it. These are aggressive fish.

Dorado's are incredibly badass fish. I would LOVE to have one, but I am way too afraid of what it would do to my GATF! Maybe the next big fish of mine...
 
maybe submit is the wrong word..... more of not giving in to the Dorado's antics.... from what i saw, especially when my VATF fought back, it only made the Dorado crank up his game.... my GATF's and Tarpon especially, just ignored him.... dont run, but dont fight back seemed the best way, but again this is a single instance where it has worked so far, i'm just going by what i've observed.... plus it probably helps that my big IT dat hates the dorado, he used to chase him, and the Dorado just ran, this i've only seen once in the big tank, but the IT has no problem with the ATF's.... kinda weird
