Florida are starting to crack down with new legislation that will require permits for any large exotics.

Basically if they think the snake can escape and make it's way into the Everglades, you don't deserve to own it.

Problem was caused by Florida simply not enforcing the permit/microchip law to begin with. Think law was passed years ago?.

Than it got out of hand when people had escaped pythons wind up in neighbors yards, etc as many house them outside and state thought about banning pythons .

Which would only hurt those who abide/responcible owners. With herp owners and herp orgs becomg active the state has opted to enforce the permit law rather than ban anything.

I can guarantee that 90% of the "look at me" people you see walking by beach with their pythons have no permits . The law was NEVER enforced thus the state was to blame.

Having said that I have yet to meet be it S.Florida MFK members , air boat drivers , fisherman even rangers who has seen a python in Glades. Yes, they are there but no way the numbers state claims.

Mostly you see on news pythons in someone's yard after they escape from a neighbors screened porch . I wish my neighbors would keep albino or piebald ball pythons lol.
