I know I just threw up a 1100 gallon intex pool and I found in-line heaters at Petco or Dr's. Foster and Smith. They cost about 50 bucks and heat a lot quicker than a submersible heater. Try that out. It still took a couple days to get my pond to the right temp, but it hasnt fluctuated since.
thank you buddy!!! how much did you pay for it..

Nice build, this is exactly what im planning for later on, except for the fish. Going with Acrylic?
i am going with Acrylic glass is just to heavy,,,but i am having hard time finding 12'x6' with 2 inch thickness Acrylic,i did find a place called "Spartech Plastic"...they do full sheets most places do 8 feet only...as far as choice of fish,Africa Cichlid's are my favorite fish..what do you like?

That looks amazing how are you planning on filtering that bad boy?
i am going to build my own filtration by using 2 or 3 75gl. trash cans...i will take picture when i am putting it together...

Have you though about what kind of decor your going to use in the tank yet? I would think with Lake Tang Cichlids you will have fish that want space on the bottom of the tank have you though of building some sort of shelf structure so that fish have "ground" space while still using some of that height?

For a tank that big if you have a heating system for the house that uses hot water radiators you can add a zone to it and run a coil of stainless tubing in the sump.Like the stuff at the bottom of the page here.

thank you bookmarked for later when i get to heater part..
