400g pond build!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like you need to add some additional bracing to the back. That fence isn't designed to hold that kinda weight.

Can't wait to see the finished product. Am in the planning stages for a outdoor in-ground pond myself. Found a site with preformed rectangle and circle pond liners for relatively cheap...

Haha my four legged pale is very humble lol and getting 2 foot rtc in january. Also demensions Are 3 foot deep,4 1/2 foot width, and 6 foot length.

A 2 foot rtc in the pond? If you look at my sig and look up my posts, with my current tank problems, you need a much bigger tank for a permanent home for this cat. A redtail catfish gets 4 feet fullgrown. Mine is 2 feet right now, in a 265g tank which is 7 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2 1/2 deep and too small for him and my other cat...the tanks breaking down...literally. please reconsider the type of cat for this size of pond...an achara *only* gets up to 2 feet, like my other cat, maybe consider that for the pond?? My other cat still growing out in the 125 is an achara x tsn ... only 18", but who knows how big when fully mature. But, as I myself am getting a temporary home for my cats, most likely a 300g rubbermaid stock tank thats 5 feet wide by 5 long by 2 feet deep, that's just barely big enough for the rtc alone, if he doesn't try jumping out...and mega filtration/sumps (like another 300g for filtration, literally).

Looks good so far, we have a similiar area in which to set up an outdoor pond and look forward to seeing the progress. Thanks for posting

Before I saw your post I scratched the rtc idea lol It will make a good home for gars but I have been searching all this time for good liner and cant find much in my area. Is homedepot or lowes liner descent???

Nice start. Im debating on doing a in ground or out of ground pond.

I would go with inground I had to do above ground because there were lots of tree roots in my back yard. Also inground gives you a heat boost.

Nice build. Only suggestions is go bigger if you want to house bigger fish that way they don't out grow the pond. I'd reccomend 1500 gal plus. Whatever you choose can't wait to see the finished build. GL.
