So my Fluval 405 started leaking under my tank..lucky i caught it after a few short hours but i had about a liter of water sitting in my stand..looked it over and seems the top wont keep a tight seal..anyone else have a problem like this? im guessing it's the rubber seal that goes around the Top...thank you in advance

You recently did any filter matinance? Maybe it's the o ring and it's nothing to annoying. I would inspect for cracks or chips or such. Make sure you didn't assemble it weirdly or that nothin is out of place that could cause it to not keep a tight seal.

It took me a while to get the feel of how to put the top back on
and heard of leaks from others
it always tends to be the reassemble thats responsible

as stated, remove the o-ring and inspect for any cracks
replace it immediately if there is any damage, clean it otherwise

when replacing the top i find that putting some even pressure
directly from the top until the hinges can reach
then closing them both at the same time is the smart thing to do
if one side closes before the other you may have some leakage

So i just got a new Fluval 405..figured i would deal with the old one later.. what about that new Fluval that came out last december???

As mentioned inspect the O-ring for damage and ensure it is properly seated. Also ensure it is lubricated, I used plain vaseline to seat the O-ring on my 405 when I had it.
